The Waldorf Astoria Hotel
Affiliation
In 1932 Conrad N. Hilton wrote "The Greatest of Them All" onto a photograph of The Waldorf Astoria in New York City. It was his dream to own this hotel and include it in his prestigious collection of hotels. In 1949 he realized his dream and extended his version of "the light and warmth of hospitality" to the legendary New York landmark. Today, the hotel is the inspiration for the distinctive hotels of The Waldorf Astoria Collection, the new Hilton luxury brand established in 2006, to which the original Waldorf Astoria is affiliated.
Accommodations
Today, The Waldorf Astoria and The Waldorf Towers, the boutique hotel occupying 27th to 42nd floors of The Waldorf Astoria, offer a total of 1,416 guest rooms, including 303 suites, all featuring original Art Deco motifs. Each room is decorated differently; no two are exactly alike.
Amenities
A vast resource of approximately 60,000 square feet of distinctive and versatile function space, with 40 rooms capable of hosting gatherings ranging from small and private to the most grand and extraordinary. The Guerlain spa occupies most of the 19th floor with 14,000 square-foot facility featuring 16 treatment rooms and 2 lounges with natural lighting throughout. Four distinctive restaurants, three lounges, and of course, 24-hour room service offer an array of distinctive cuisine.
Location
The Waldorf Astoria hotel occupies an entire city block between Park and Lexington Avenues and 49th and 50th Streets. The hotel is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, within walking distance to Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Theater District and the best shopping and art galleries on Madison and Fifth Avenues. Three major airports: JKF, LaGuardia and Newark are located within 45-60 minutes travel time from the hotel. The motor entrance is between Park and Lexington avenues on 50th Street, which is one-way eastbound.
